Classic Salmon Flies
Classic salmon flies cover a wide time span in the art of fly dressing and has iinherited its own language and practices that reflect the art in a more leisurely time. The range of materials used in thesr flies tends to be from the natural world and reflect the breadth of the British Empire, were products of the millenary trade and from the latest exploration were entwined in ever more sophisticated dressings. Today the availability of many of these feathers used in this type of fly are either on the endangered list or are extinct and heavily regulated under CITIES.
These patterns were in general established in the 1800's and are true works of art which we will share with you here in the future.
