Tying the flies that catch...

Some of the history that is at the heart of the craft of fly dressing

Patterns and Guidance on tying and fishing them.

Fly Patern Library

Jon Bond Game Angling is pleased to bring you these potted histories and patterns for the flies that we have shared with you in Catching Up.  Some of the patterns will take a little longer to uncover the history and details so some of the patterns will remain blank in the short term.

We would be pleased to hear from you and would be delighted to add any detail or experiences you have with the patterns as you tie them and even better of the results you achieve fishing with them.

We hope that you enjoy the patterns and will come back as we add to the pattern library.

Brief details of each pattern in the Library are listed alphabetically below, they are also grouped as follows:

The histories and dialogues here are based upon research on the web and a range of fly books, they are the result of enjoyable time spent looking for the history and development of the patterns that we enjoy. If you have anything to add to the information please: As time marches on we shall add to the library and would welcome any suggestions. The information collected together here is given with research and analysis of a variety of sources; such as Wikipedia, various fly tying websites, published text and anecdotes and any other information found. It is thus a composite of many sources and edited here for you, we would strongly suggest that you undertake your own private research before relying on the information here which is offered on the basis of a shared resource rather than definitive fact. For each pattern we are providing a brief history, general information and a pattern recipe which has been collected together on a separate page for each of the patterns. As time moves on we will add more detail and information as it becomes available. To see this more detailed account click on the fly picture or the See More button. Flies are listed alphabetically, as near as I can...
